Bauer is the founder and Principal of The Business Exchange, a highly regarded regional business brokerage firm specializing in business divestitures and acquisitions. Bauer completed under graduate and graduate coursework at the University of Vermont and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.  He is a CBI (Certified Business Intermediary) as accredited by the International Business Brokers Association. The CBI, which represents the gold standard in the business brokerage industry as accredited by the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA).  Bauer is also a licensed Massachusetts real estate broker, actively selling commercial real estate since 2006.

In addition to his role at The Business Exchange, Mr. Bauer actively contributes to the advancement of the profession. He serves on the board of directors for the New England Business Brokers Association (NEBBA) and is chair of the NEBBA Plus committee, the only business for sale Multiple Listing Service (MLS) serving the New England region.  Bauer is a member of the Massachusetts Restaurant Association (MRA) and the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA), where he leverages his knowledge and insights to drive industry best practices. Adam is also a corporator with Mountain One Bank, a mutual bank headquartered in North Adams, MA servicing the South Shore and Berkshire County area.
